We lie together to the sound of the classics, the warm glow of the screen leads us along. It's like a movie, with rhythmic twitches we dance.
Twisted fingers trace chasms in your veins. In a daze and filled with the love of two strangers. Awaken to the chirping of cardinals, the song of spring. Angels flock to the place where you were born, where they still sing broken hymns. These fluorescent lights and linoleum tile seem older than time, illuminate every piece of dirt in the room while I wait. You are the brightest thing I know: headlights in the oncoming lane.

Living every day hoping it’s the last just ain’t like it used to be, ever since you found a meaning and the life returned to your eyes. It’s been too long since its been like this. In the throes of safety and comfort, a single bloodshot eye opens with urgency. The alarm echoes in a thoughtless mind 5 days a week, you can't ignore it this time, beckoning for life before the sun shines. Hobbling through the routine, these repeated motions are a bore. Soon the sound becomes a dull buzzing. Tuning out, it's familiar, it's just another noise. Eyes closed again. Later in the day and you still haven’t eaten a thing, your body won’t quit this time, it won’t quit ever again. Would it be enough to part with a limb? The air is alive like the sound of a constantly ringing telephone. A vision, softly, sent in lieu of flowers. Would it be enough to part with a limb?
